27/01/2021· However, the awesome thing about the Apple TV is that you are controlling it through the IR sensor. It’s not that Lightning is so much of a problem as it’s the fact that you have to figure out the ...
07/10/2013· In fact, I don’t believe the Apple IR system is well known at all amongst Mac users, and I hope this study will show that it can be more useful to music makers than was previously thought. * From about 2005, Apple began adding an infrared remote capability to their machines, which came with an attractive little remote control like this: It’s not clear from the picture, but if you haven ...

level 1. greyxtawn. · 4y. The remote identifies the sound bar using its EDID information over HDMI. Once it does that, the Apple TV uses RF to tell the remote which IR signals to use for the specific sound bar. Ultimately, your sound bar is being controlled via IR from the remote. Volume controls are also possible via HDMI using CEC.

09/11/2015· Looking at the IFIXIT photos, I think that the IR receiver is in the front on a line extended between the power socket and HDMI jack on the rear. If you want to search for the sensor, encapsulate an IR emitter in an IR opaque container with a small aperture, then slide the assembly along the front of the AppleTV while sending IR commands.
13/02/2018· I found this Xray in a teardown of Apple TV 4K. It says that the 4 dots in a line in the lower left are the IR sensor.
