Note that, turtlebot needs to connect to roomba in order to receive sensors data from bumper. roomba_500_series also publish sensors data from ir_bumper. The code is:

May 12, 2015· There is a square opening in the IR sensor arm. This opening allows the IRed to emit the IR signal to the Receiver transistor. When the bump sensor is activated the sensor arm is pushed and the square opening pivots and the solid plastic portion of the arm blocks the IR signal. Refer to this picture for a visual reference:
